ASK A CHUBBY

Think you know what goes on inside the mind of a chubby chaser? You’d be surprised how the world looks through our eyes. Even most chubby chasers are at a loss to explain our tastes and sexuality, and how it affects our relationships. But understanding how chubby chasers are wired and how we navigate the world can benefit chubs and chasers alike and improve our success in dating and the quality of our romantic relationships. This seminar is the place for chubs and chasers to ask questions, vent frustrations, gain insights, and discover just how much we all have in common.

As an out-loud chaser living in Los Angeles, a city of hyper-real, magazine beauty, Dan has come to straddle many different parts of the gay world. His unique perspectives and easy candor on the issues of love, sex, and fat have brought him to be featured on MTV: True Life, Tyra, Huffington Post, and several American and European documentaries. Dan leads seminars around the country based on his award-winning book, The Round World: Life at the Intersection of Love, Sex, and Fat, available wherever books are sold.

FATHEAD

Turn the oppressive world of diet & fitness on its head! In this seminar, we’ll examine some radical new ways to look at who you are, what you eat, and what it means to be healthy. So often we think of food as being good or bad, healthy or junk, delicious or disgusting. We hardly ever let food be food. Once we distinguish our prejudices about food, we can actually begin to taste food in a new way, even begin to design our tastes or just explore how much more there is to taste.

  • What if tasting could replace dieting?
  • What if exercise were something you already loved?
  • What if food could be an adventure?

We’ll examine these attitudes, opinions, and behaviors around diet and exercise by introducing some ideas that may challenge some dearly held beliefs. (Are you sure you know what your food tastes like?) Come open-minded, and you won’t leave empty-handed.

TRAVEL TIPS FOR BIG BOYS

Are you traveling as much as you’d like? Do you feel that because of your size you cannot travel comfortably or to all the destinations you desire?

Everyone deserves to see the world on their terms, regardless of weight or size. Let’s help debunk some myths, discuss a variety of options, and explore some little-known work-around tricks. We’ll discuss all things air travel from seat dimensions (how to find them for your flight and how those numbers affect you), different airline “Customer of Size” policies, premium cabin/larger seat pricing and availability, restroom/lavatory size concerns, as well as how to be proactive and informed when dealing with airline personnel. We will also talk hotels, both domestic and international, cruise ships, trains, ride-share/taxis, and more!

Sam King, the founder of TRAVEL AT LARGE (pictured aboard Royal Caribbean’s Brilliance of the Seas in Madeira, Portugal), a full-service travel agency that specializes in travel for Plus-Size individuals, will share his expert insights for how to maximize comfort and accessibility in traveling while also minimizing costs.
